Carmina Debuts at BiOS / Photonics West 2019
January 29th, 2019The new Carmina tunable IR light source debuts at SPIE BiOS & Photonics West in San Francisco (2 – 7 February 2019).
APE focused on two key elements in its latest development. One of it is a wide tunable IR and mid-IR wavelength range from 2.15 µm to 15 µm, which is the widest of any IR laser system on the market. That wide tuning range and the laser’s high resolution and sensitivity are achieved with an optical parametric oscillator and difference-frequency generation architecture.
The other key element is that Carmina offers the combination of 300 cm−1 broadband and 20 cm−1 narrowband emission and therefore makes the Carmina suitable for the two complementary nanoscale IR techniques: scattering near-field scanning optical microscopy and atomic force microscope IR spectroscopy. A pulsed mode consisting of a burst with a 50% duty cycle is included for AFM-IR applications. The light source is suitable for use in imaging and spectroscopy of organic and inorganic samples.
